Profile of Betfair
Betfair distinguishes its Sportsbook from the Exchange. The Sportsbook uses odds offered by the bookmaker; the Exchange matches back and lay offers with those of other participants.
The difference between backing and laying
On an exchange, price is not enough: consider liquidity, the amount actually matched and applicable commission. Laying an outcome creates a financial liability that may exceed the other participant’s stake.
Domain, territory and access
Exchange and Sportsbook conditions, commission and territorial availability may differ. Being able to open a webpage does not prove that the service is authorised in your territory. Before using it, check the domain and operator against the relevant regulator’s register. Do not use alternative addresses to bypass restrictions.
Payments, documents and withdrawals
For Betfair, we do not publish minimum amounts, fees or withdrawal times that have not been verified for the applicable account and edition. A wallet name on a general page does not establish availability to everyone. Check deposits, withdrawals, currency and required documents separately.
