Which market are you reading?
The bout winner and method of victory are different selections. A draw, no contest or technical decision may require specific rules; markets do not all treat these outcomes identically.
Distinctions to check
Round totals may use a threshold within a round. Check exactly what half a round means under the terms. Simply counting started rounds is not enough to determine settlement.
An example to explain the concept
A winner selection may be correct while a selection on the same boxer to win on points is not, if the bout ends inside the distance.
Terms and settlement
Check the treatment of draws, no contests, disqualifications and technical decisions before assessing a price. The bookmaker’s rules specify how an official result applies to the market. Later result corrections may be subject to time limits: do not infer settlement solely from a result published elsewhere.
Compare like with like
Keep the event, period of play, selection and line identical. Record the observation time as well: prices viewed at different times are not a simultaneous comparison. Higher odds do not automatically compensate for different rules or conditions.
From the guide to the sources
For schedules and formats, consult the official source for the sport or event. For settlement, read the rules of the particular market. The examples on this page are hypothetical, not live results.
