Which market are you reading?
A darts match can be structured in legs and, in some formats, sets. A match-winner market is not the same as a next-leg or individual-set market.
Distinctions to check
Markets on the number of 180s, checkouts or handicaps require checking the unit of measurement. Comparing a handicap in legs with one in sets produces a meaningless conclusion.
An example to explain the concept
In a hypothetical best-of-eleven-leg match, the first player to win six legs wins the match. The same logic cannot be transferred unchanged to an event structured in sets.
Terms and settlement
Check the format, maximum number of legs and tournament rules for each match. The bookmaker’s rules specify how an official result applies to the market. Later result corrections may be subject to time limits: do not infer settlement solely from a result published elsewhere.
Compare like with like
Keep the event, period of play, selection and line identical. Record the observation time as well: prices viewed at different times are not a simultaneous comparison. Higher odds do not automatically compensate for different rules or conditions.
From the guide to the sources
For schedules and formats, consult the official source for the sport or event. For settlement, read the rules of the particular market. The examples on this page are hypothetical, not live results.
