Which market are you reading?
A selection on the overall winner is not the same as one on the televote or qualification from a semifinal. The market description must identify the ranking and stage it covers.
Distinctions to check
Odds are prices, not a representative opinion poll. They can change with news, rehearsals and market activity without being a guaranteed prediction of the final vote.
An example to explain the concept
A contestant can perform well in the televote without winning the overall contest. Comparing prices for these two selections creates a false equivalence.
Terms and settlement
Check market availability, format and conditions for the relevant edition. The bookmaker’s rules specify how an official result applies to the market. Later result corrections may be subject to time limits: do not infer settlement solely from a result published elsewhere.
Compare like with like
Keep the event, period of play, selection and line identical. Record the observation time as well: prices viewed at different times are not a simultaneous comparison. Higher odds do not automatically compensate for different rules or conditions.
From the guide to the sources
For schedules and formats, consult the official source for the sport or event. For settlement, read the rules of the particular market. The examples on this page are hypothetical, not live results.
