Which market are you reading?
Race winner, qualifying result and podium finish are different events. The conditions should state which session and classification the selection concerns.
Distinctions to check
Retirement makes settlement rules particularly important in driver head-to-head markets. Official classification or other specific conditions may determine settlement. Do not interpret penalties or later revisions without checking the settlement window.
An example to explain the concept
“Fastest qualifier” is not equivalent to “starts from pole”: a grid penalty can produce different outcomes. Reading the complete market description prevents an incorrect comparison.
Terms and settlement
Do not treat practice results or provisional classifications as final market outcomes. The bookmaker’s rules specify how an official result applies to the market. Later result corrections may be subject to time limits: do not infer settlement solely from a result published elsewhere.
Compare like with like
Keep the event, period of play, selection and line identical. Record the observation time as well: prices viewed at different times are not a simultaneous comparison. Higher odds do not automatically compensate for different rules or conditions.
From the guide to the sources
For schedules and formats, consult the official source for the sport or event. For settlement, read the rules of the particular market. The examples on this page are hypothetical, not live results.
